Polyester is the most rigid of all strapping materials. It elongates significantly less than polypropylene and recycled packing peanut retains tension over a longer period. polyester is nick resistant and can be sealed with seals, heat or friction welds. because polyester offers the greatest strength and highest retained tension of all plastic strapping, peanut for packing it is frequently used on heavy duty loads that need high initial tension along with high retained tension during handling and storage. common applications are empty cans and bottles, lumber and heavy, rigid palletizing. polyester has a smooth, shiny finish and is easy to dispose of and recycle.polypropylene strapping is the most commonly used and least expensive of all strapping materials. it is light and easy to apply and recycle. characteristics include high elongation and elongation recovery, peanut but low retained tension. polypropylene is an excellent choice for light duty palletizing, unitizing, carton closing and bundling. because of its embossing (or waffle) pattern, strap thickness is not a useful measurement. a standard 1/2" machine grade strap can be embossed to a thickness of anywhere between .014 recycled and .030, depending upon how deep the embossing pattern is. an overly embossed strap will be thicker, but will have a lower break strength. carton reinforcement: a 3:1 ratio of strap to carton weight is recommended. for a 100 lb package this could be done with (1) 300lb tensile strap or (2) 150lb straps. unitizing and bundling: a 5:1 ration of strap to carton weight is recommended. palletized cases: required tensile strength = (pallet weight x 1.5) / # of straps acrylic is the medium priced pressure sensitive tape and features excellent clarity and resistance to yellowing. it may be applied in temperatures ranging from 32-140 degrees, is a great general purpose tape and is the favorite when carton appearance is an important consideration. natural rubber packaging supplies company''s natural rubber tape has a strong pvc backing which is very quiet coming off the roll and accepts magic marker on the surface of the tape without pink packing peanut smearing. natural rubber adhesive is the best pressure sensitive tape for sealing peanut cartons recycled in extreme packing temperatures (0-150 degrees), humidity or dampness because it quickly forms a long lasting bond. natural rubber tape is darker than acrylic or hot melt tape and yellows as it ages. natural rubber is the most expensive peanut pressure sensitive tape available. finding items: the left side (see image below) of the screen shows a list of major and minor product groups that you may use to browse our recycled product selection. click on the "boxes" to see the list of subcategories that appears. if you know what you want you may specify the product description or the item number in the "search" box. items are located based on the product name and the description of the product. use packing more specific searches to narrow your searches. avoid searches such as "box" or "tape". when searching for a specific box, use the "search" box and enter the size in the following format: product information: once you have located an item that interests you, we present a peanut part number and a short description. to view more information about the product, click on the picture of the item. we offer quantity discounts for most items, click on the price to view quantity pricing.
